Ask any parent and they will probably confirm that the morning routine of getting every child dressed, fed and out the door for school on time is challenging. At Indy STEAM Academy (ISA), we believe we are making mornings just a bit easier for parents: our students love coming to school so much that they are jumping out of bed and getting dressed just to get to us on time. What could be better than joyful learning and smiles on the faces of our students? 

Tuition-Free Kindergarten

Preparing to send your child off to kindergarten can be bittersweet, a mix of joy in seeing them grow and nerves for the big adventure ahead. Kindergarten is a special time for children to not only learn to read and write, but to also make friends and build a foundation for the rest of their school years. 

We’ve designed our free full-day Kindergarten program at Indy STEAM Academy to be developmentally appropriate for all children who turn 5 years old by August 1. Our program includes all the science, technology, engineering, art, and music time that our upper school students receive–and more! 

Starting in Kindergarten, our highly qualified teachers provide 90 minutes in reading, math and science every day. We help children develop a solid foundation in literacy through instruction in phonics, beginning reading and writing. 

And, because our teachers know the power of play, learning at Indy STEAM Academy is hands-on, exploratory, and FUN. Play is how children learn in their most natural state—through social interactions, creating, exploring, and pushing their limits in a safe environment. Learning doesn’t feel hard when you are having fun, which is why our children love coming to kindergarten!

Indy STEAM Academy also offers after-school programs and clubs for all of our students. Kindergarten students are invited to attend our Gymnastics/Tumbling club and Intro to Sports class, as well as Lego Club and Robotics for our young engineers.

One of the greatest assets of our free public charter school is our small class size. We love our small school family feel at Indy STEAM Academy, where everybody knows your name and no one slips through the cracks. The addition of classroom teacher assistants at each grade level means students are provided with daily one-on-one or small group support. 

Summer Session Available 

We are thrilled to announce our brand new Summer Session for all students enrolling at Indy STEAM Academy for the 2022-23 school year. Incoming Kindergarteners are invited to attend our Summer Session starting June 13 through July 1 from 8:00-12:30. The half day program is tuition-free and will include breakfast and lunch. 

If tuition-based preschool wasn’t an option for your child prior to Kindergarten, Summer Session is an excellent opportunity to help your incoming Kindergartener learn about school and gain skills in a shorter, camp-like experience. The transition to the new school year will be even easier with this extra boost in confidence and comfort in their new school building.
