The Parent/Student Handbook is designed to answer many commonly asked questions that parents and/or students may about policies, procedures, and guidelines implemented to maintain a positive, safe, and nurturing learning environment. Please familiarize yourself with the information contained in this handobok and keep it handy for future reference. Also, parents and students are to sign and return to school the Agreement form which is the last page of this handbook. If you have additional questions, please contact your child’s teacher or the School Principal. Have a STEAMTASTIC school year!

GRIEVANCE POLICY
It is the desire of the Indy STEAM Academy to resolve any complaints in a fair and prompt manner. Prior to the initiation of a grievance, the parent or student will discuss the concern/problem with the person directly involved in an attempt to resolve the problem. Parents should speak with the classroom teacher first before contacting the school administration. If the matter pertains to classroom instruction or the discipline of a student, it should be resolved with the School Principal. If the matter is not resolved, the matter shall be presented in writing to the School Principal using the Complaint Form and follow the resolutions steps are identified as follows:
Grievance Process:
First Resolution Step: Submit a Complaint Form
The parent or student should initiate a complaint by requesting a complaint form from the officer manager, completing the form and returning it to the office manager. The petitioner is to state the claim, provide a detailed statement of the facts in support of the claim, and identify their desired resolution of the matter. After submitting the form to the School Principal for review. The School Principal will provide a written or electronic response acknowledging receipt of the complaint. The School Principal will advise the petitioner of the grievance process and timeline.
Second Resolution Step: In-Person Meeting
The School Principal with meet individually with all parties to get a clear understanding of the complaint. The School Principal may determine that it is necessary to meet with both parties involved (if applicable) to resolve the dispute and collaborate on a solution to amicably resolve the matter. The School Principal will provide a written response on the Complaint form and return it to the parent or student within five (5) business days of the initial meeting decision. If the parent or student is not satisfied with the decision of the School Principal, the petitioner may appeal to the CEO/Superintendent (Proceed to the Third Resolution Step).
Third Resolution Step: Decision and Appeal Process
The parent or student may appeal in writing the decision of the CEO/Superintendent. The CEO/Superintendent will review all information relative to the complaint and request a meeting with the complainant within (5) five business days. The CEO/Superintendent will meet with the parent and student and any parties involved to review the complaint and shall provide a written decision to the parent and student within five business days of the meeting. If the parent and student are not satisfied with the decision of the CEO/Superintendent, the parent or student may appeal to the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors (proceed to the Fourth Resolution Step).
Fourth Resolution Step: Meeting with the Board of Directors
The parent or student may request to meet with the Governance Committee of the Board of Directors. The Board Secretary will contact the parent, student and other persons involved with the meeting date and time of the meeting. The Governance Committee will provide a response or resolution to the complaintant within (5) five business days. The Governance Committee may request to meet with complaintant in Executive Session at a Board of Directors meeting. The Board of Directors has the power and duty to act as deemed appropriate to resolve the matter. The Board of Directors will work diligently to amicably resolve the matter. The decision of the Board of Directors is final.

We are a tuition-based non-public academy with staff dedicated to providing a supportive learning environment and comprehensive curriculum for students from various ethnic, racial, and socio-economic backgrounds. Parents may apply for Choice Scholarships and Financial Aid to assist with tuition costs.
