At Indy STEAM Academy, we believe the path to a successful future is through education and character development. We are committed to nurturing the whole child on their way to a great career in the science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics (STEAM) fields. In addition to high quality academics, our school aims to grow strong character and habits that will support life long success.

Character Development

Building strong character is fundamental to success. Every component of our school is designed to strengthen the character of our students. Our Six Pillars of Character act as our moral compass and represent the foundation for everything we do at Indy STEAM Academy.

Our certified teachers lead classroom lessons that explicitly recognize and teach these traits, but our entire program of learning is designed to help students develop strong character. For example: 

• Rigorous academics support strong study habits and self-discipline. 
• Exploration of STEM principles develops courage and positive risk-taking.
• Athletics teaches cooperation and fairness. 
• Music and Art instruction increases perseverance and appreciation of beauty.
• Field trips develop a sense of citizenship and responsibility to our community

By weaving these character traits throughout our entire school, children learn in authentic and engaging ways, making their learning lasting and real. Additionally, all students at Indy STEAM Academy are taught study skills, such as time management and organization, that will be beneficial beyond the K-6 experience.

Success Time

We teach our students that discipline and hard work is vital to success. Our teachers model these traits by supporting all students with 60 minutes of extra help during the school day to ensure their success in reading and math. We believe that failure is NOT an option.

Additionally, we offer summer school for new and returning students who are seeking either a jumpstart or extended time working on foundational skills. After school, Homework Help and Tutoring are offered to all students. 

Family Communication

Essential to supporting student success is the home and school connection. We lean on parents as our partners in each child’s education. We stay in frequent contact with our families to keep everyone up-to-date on how their child is doing. At Indy STEAM, you can count on newsletters, phone calls, conferences and reports informing you of your child’s progress.
