Walk the halls at Indy STEAM Academy (Indy STEAM) and you’ll notice something special: the FUN that both students and staff are having! On any given day you’ll hear kids and teachers joking together, lively conversations, and friendships forming over lunch. You will see smiles in the hallways, engagement in the classrooms, and spirited competitions between students and staff. That’s because Indy STEAM Academy values joy and FUN among our community of future scientists and engineers.

We put the FUN into learning

At Indy STEAM, we believe that real, lasting learning is FUN! That’s why we weave joy into the curriculum and choose projects that are naturally motivating to students. Science, technology, engineering, art and math are highly interesting subjects to young minds, making our daily learning engaging and enjoyable. Our hands-on activities connect children’s brains and bodies for authentic learning.

Art, music, and physical education are built into every student’s week. We see joy on the student’s faces when they participate in games in PE or create something new in art class. Our students love to express their unique selves and these classes provide just that opportunity.

Fun Activities and Events

The amazing community at Indy STEAM never misses an opportunity to come together and celebrate holidays and the hard work of our students and staff. From field trips to the local pumpkin patch and schoolwide holiday celebrations, we believe in making time for fun and community. 

Our promise to prepare students for the careers of the future includes the opportunity to participate in junior internships, job shadowing and field trips to science and industry centers in the greater Indianapolis area. Our future scientists have the opportunity to try out a new career by experimenting and ultimately discovering a new finding. What’s more fun than that AHA! moment?  

If competition is your idea of fun, Indy STEAM students can participate in a variety of athletics. Volleyball, tennis, football, basketball, futsal, cheer, track and field and soccer are all offered to students looking for a chance to improve their skills and have fun on a team. Our K-2 students are also invited to participate in Intro to Sports and gymnastics classes after school. Our robust afterschool programs offer a little of something for everyone, free of cost.
