We LOVE Sports!

Indy STEAM Academy may be a small community school, but our sports offerings are anything but!

We are proud to offer robust athletics programs, after school clubs, competitive teams and intramurals. In addition to our 60 minute PE classes and top notch STEAM academics, we believe that athletics are a key part of developing wellness and healthy life-long habits. Our athletes develop skills like teamwork, confidence, leadership and time management.

It’s just another way the entire Indy STEAM Academy community is committed to helping each and every student grow and succeed beyond the four walls of our school.

There is no greater time to find a sense of belonging and community than the middle school years. Our middle school sports offerings are designed to give students a chance to showcase their skills, as well as develop discipline and hard work. Sports build character and are a healthy social outlet for all ages.

If your 6th grade student is looking to grow his/her athletic development and have fun at the same time, we offer the following sports:

Fall

  • Volleyball (Boys & Girls teams)
  • Tennis

Winter

  • Basketball (Boys & Girls teams)
  • Futsal
  • Cheer

Spring

  • Track & Field (Boys & Girls)
  • Football
  • Soccer

Indy STEAM Academy is part of the Indianapolis Public School (IPS) Athletics Programs. We compete against other IPS schools and charter schools. Our students get the benefit of attending a small school that can give them ample playing time while still getting to compete and grow their skills.

Throughout the year, we are proud to offer sports clinics and tournaments to hone in on specific skills. And, in line with our mission to serve the local Indianapolis community, we have developed partnerships with the following athletic organizations:

  • The Academy Volleyball Club
  • US Tennis Association (USTA) Midwest
  • Indiana Futsal
  • Indiana Soccer
  • YMCA Avondale Meadows
  • Sports Ventures Sportswear

Our elementary students don’t miss out on any of the action, either. Sports at Indy STEAM Academy are open to all students so they can experience being part of a team and explore their skills and interests. Sports provide our elementary students the opportunity to be with friends, move their bodies and have fun in a low risk environment, as well as prepare them for middle school athletic pursuits.

  • Intro to Sports

Grades 4-6

Sports teams at Indy STEAM extend our mission of developing the whole child beyond the hours of a typical school day. We know that kids who play sports show increased confidence, sharper brains, sleep better and develop stronger hearts and lungs. All things essential for children to grow into the best version of themselves.

Join us at Indy STEAM as we cheer on our athletes–there’s a team for everyone here!
