Welcome Back, Engineers!
Indy STEAM Academy (Indy STEAM) is thrilled to welcome back our students for the 2022-23 school year! The smiles of our K-6th grade students have filled the school the last few weeks as we got to know new classmates, teachers and for some, a new school building. We have welcomed many new students and teachers to Indy STEAM and we are also thrilled to welcome back our first ever 6th grade class. We are going full-steam ahead this year!
If you are a new family to Indy STEAM, we hope you are taking full advantage of all that we have to offer, from free after-school clubs and sports to transportation to help make your morning hustle smoother. We have something for everyone at our small community school.
We have much to look forward to as we start a new year together. Here’s a few of the things the staff at Indy STEAM Academy have planned for your child this year. We are so glad you are here!

More Time in the Lab
As we nurture the academic and creative talents of students through the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM), we’ll spend time in our state-of-the-art laboratories. Through 60 minutes of daily science instruction, our students will create solutions to real world problems and challenges and build practical application skills. It’s highly motivating and long-lasting learning.
Sports
Our fall sports programs are in full swing in our beautiful gymnasium. This year, students will be able to participate in volleyball, tennis, basketball, futsal, cheer, track and field, football and soccer. You can read more about the benefits of sports and our exceptional programs here.
Music
Building off of last year, our Indy STEAM students will continue to learn to play instruments and read music. Options for instruments include piano, guitar, xylophone, and violin. We also host an after-school choir and band for students interested in taking their musical talent further.
Art
Woven into our curriculum is the study of visual and performing arts. Students will learn fundamentals, such as color, line, and negative space, to create their own works of art. We provide instruction in drawing and painting, as well as ceramics and weaving. Children will have the opportunity to build confidence and speaking skills in drama class, as well as take dance classes with a focus on Alvin Ailey’s modern dance, tap, and ballet. No matter their ability, students will practice important skills like creative movement, balance, and coordination.
Excursions
With Covid restrictions loosening across the country, we plan to get our students out into the community more often to explore STEAM careers in the field. From junior internships to job shadowing and trips to tour colleges and universities, we are preparing our students for the careers of tomorrow by exposing them to a world of possibilities.
If you are still searching for a school for your K-6 student, we have a few spots remaining in our tuition-free charter school. Don’t let the date on the calendar deter you—now is a fantastic time to enroll with Indy STEAM Academy to set your student on the path to a college degree. Reach out and talk to us today.
