Top 10 Reasons to Attend Indy STEAM Academy
We are a tuition-free, public charter school committed to preparing the K-6 students of Indianapolis for tomorrow’s high-demand, high-wage careers. Along the way, we grow the whole child through a thoughtful and balanced curriculum, with expert teaching and caring relationships at the core of everything we do.
Here’s how we are keeping our promise to all students at Indy STEAM:
- Indy STEAM Academy nurtures the academic and creative talents of students through the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM). We build a strong literacy foundation to ensure all students are prepared for high school, college, and careers in a 21st century global STEM workforce.
- Our highly-qualified teachers are certified by the State of Indiana and participate in professional development throughout the school year. Teachers provide a high-quality STEAM education for every K-6 student — including students from low-income families, underserved minority students, and underrepresented students like girls.
- Built into every day at Indy STEAM is 90 minutes of dynamic instruction for reading, math, and science. An additional 60 minutes of extra help during the school day ensures success in foundational subjects like reading and math.
- We raise awareness of STEM careers by creating unique opportunities such as job shadowing, Junior Internships, and trips to tour colleges and universities. We also visit STEM industries and science museums.
- Our core values are our moral compass and foundation for everything we do at Indy STEAM Academy. Building strong character is fundamental to success. Our core values include these six pillars: Trust, Respect, Responsibility, Fairness, Caring and Citizenship.
- Through our STEAM instructional model, our students create solutions to real world problems and challenges. Indy STEAM students build practical application skills while also experiencing the joy of expressing themselves through music, drama, dance, and the visual arts.
- We offer a longer school year and a longer school day. Our students attend school 185 days each year, which is five additional days compared to traditional public schools. Seven hours of daily instruction equals 370 more hours, or 52 more days, of instruction compared to traditional public schools!
- Our 15:1 student to teacher ratio means our students receive more personalized attention and assistance. Our small school is close-knit with a positive climate and culture.
- Indy STEAM’s state-of-the-art facility includes science and technology laboratories, where students actively learn computer science skills and explore engineering by building things and creating objects. Students learn digital literacy with iPads and Chromebooks.
- After-school, students may participate in a variety of fun and engaging activities including dance, drama, playing musical instruments, coding, Lego, and Robotics. Our robust athletics program promotes physical fitness and friendly competition.

We believe learning is fun and success is built on a foundation of strong relationships and academic skills. Join our tuition-free public school to set your child up for a bright future, today. We’re enrolling grades K-6 now for Fall 2022.
