Establishing a safe and orderly learning requires all members of our school community: administrators, teachers, support staff, students, and parents to model the core values in all interactions at school.

Behavior Expectations
Indianapolis STEAM Academy has established clear expectations for behaviors within the school environment in order to support the learning community. These behaviors fall into three categories: Respect, Responsibility, and Safety. These expectations contribute to a positive learning environment where students are able to grow socially and succeed academically.

Dress Code
Indy Steam Academy will create a positive school culture and climate that focuses on academic achievement and a sense of community. Our dress code policy will help us foster unity, a sense of belonging, and purpose for learning that results in positive contributions to the learning community as members of the Indy STEAM Academy family.
While fashions change, the reason for being in school does not. Students are in school to learn and any fashion (dress, accessory or hairstyle) that disrupts the educational process or presents a safety risk will not be permitted. Personal expression is permitted within these guidelines.
Students are required to wear the school uniform every day.

No Hoodies or Sweatshirts may be worn at any time in school.

Shoes:
Black rubber sole bottom shoes (no gym shoes – except when taking PE)
Open toe shoes or sandals are not permitted!
Outerwear:
Students can wear any type of Outerwear but outerwear is not permitted to be worn in the school during school hours.
Hair
Only natural colored hair is acceptable.
Conservative haircuts and styles
If a student has selected a manner of appearance that is disruptive to the educational process or presents a risk to themselves or others, they may be removed from the educational setting.
Care for School Uniforms:
- Students are required to maintain a clean, neat and healthy personal appearance.
- Parents are expected to support the school dress code policy by making sure their children leave home properly groomed and dressed for school.
- Student’s appearances should not be distracting to the educational process.
- Uniforms must be neat, clean, and in good condition.
- There is no “day of the week” uniform requirement.
- If an undershirt is worn, it must match the outer shirt. For example, if a child chooses to wear an undershirt under a white button down, it needs to be white in color.
- Uniforms are to have the school's logo and patch.

Note: The Yellow Polo and uniform items with the school crest are only sold at School Belles. However, parents may purchase any parts of the uniform without the School Crest from stores including Walmart, Target, Meijer.
